Go ginkgo, go memory.
Of the many new alternative treatment for memory loss ginkgo biloba seems to show the most promise. Numerous clinically controlled trials have shown that ginkgo appears to act on a number of major elements in the causation of both Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Ginkgo biloba is an herbal medicine extracted from the leaves of the ornamental ginkgo tree. Used for centuries in China, ginkgo has now become one of the most popular plant medicines in Europe, used mainly to improve circulation and treat symptoms linked to memory and thinking disorders. Just how it works isn't established yet.. but researchers believe that it increases blood flow to the brain and may also have an antioxidant effect that helps prevent brain cell damage seen in AD.
Ginkgo appears to be relatively safe, causing only mild-mainly gastrointestinal-side effects in some people..if your taking blood-thinning drugs such as aspirin or warfarin. The herb can inhibit blood clotting.
