Benefits of food supplements
There is growing evidence that responsible supplementation provides positive health effects. In women of childbearing age, the risk of neural tube birth defects has been hound to decrease with regular folic acid intake. The risk of osteoporosis in women is also reduced with regular intake of calcium supplements and isoflavones in soya products.
Anti oxidant have also been found to prevent arteriosclerosis by protecting against blood vessel damage due to superoxides or free radicals.
Cardiac function has also been shown to improve with carnitine and coenzyme Q10 intake. Garlic can lower cholesterol and tryglyceride levels.
Ginkgo biloba has been associated with enhanced memory retention and effective treatment of peripheral vascular disease, tinnitus, and other organic brain disease symptoms.

Hi Silvergirl, I do take a daily dose of folic acid as recommended by my doctor, and since I have moved to the Philippines I have been eating better, it so good to have fresh vegetables and fruits available on a daily basis. Plus my wife uses plenty of garlic in our cooking. Good tips you have.
