A whiter shade of Tea

Best Blogger Tips
Hundreds of studies have investigated green tea for its anti cancer and anti oxidant effects, tracing its health- enhancing properties to polyphenols.  Now researchers thave turned their attention to another tea: white.  Starting from the same leaves as a better known green and black varieties, White Tea is  minimally processed so it retains more active polyphenols. study looked at brewed tea's ability to reverse mutation of bacteria, and found white tea to be more effective than green.  In this study , concentration of the most potent polyphenol, ECGCG, were similar between the two teas but white tea had additional polyphenols and more methylxanthines- caffeine and theobromine- also thought to contribute to white tea's mutation fighting qualities.   Another study added white tea to the drinking water of mice of huge risk of developing colon polyps.  The mice who drank white tea ended up with smaller tumors and less severe anemia than those receiving  water alone.  You can avail now the white tea in all groceries and pharmacy .

Filipino maid inherits 6 million singapore dollar ($4 million plus US)

Best Blogger Tips
When I woke up I  always try to open my radio to listen local news. And this story is a heartwarming.

"I am the luckiest maid in Singapore, with or without the money," the 47-year-old single woman -- identified only by the pseudonym "Christine" -- told the Straits Times in an interview.

The maid refused to be named in public for fear of possible threats to her life in the impoverished Philippines, where wealthy people have been kidnapped for ransom and some killed by their abductors.
The windfall, including cash and a luxury apartment near the Orchard Road shopping belt, came from the estate of her employer Quek Kai Miew, a medical doctor and philanthropist who died last year at 66.

The maid had also taken care of the doctor's late mother, and was told that she would be a beneficiary of her employer's will when it was drawn up in 2008.

"There were no secrets between us. I was not surprised at all when she told me how much I was going to get," the maid recalled.

"Christine" was devastated when Quek died a year ago, as the two were inseparable, and temporarily moved in with the doctor's nephew for solace.

"It was heartbreaking for me as I saw more years with Doctor Quek than with my own mother. I would break down every time I thought about her. I could not be by myself," she said.

"I was always beside her. Wherever she went, I was with her."
The maid, who is now applying for permanent residency in Singapore, said her newfound wealth had not changed her lifestyle.

"I do not really think much about the money I got. I just live my life as I did before, and not as a rich person," the maid, dressed simply in a blouse and slacks with short-cropped hair, was quoted as saying.

"I am still who I was before. I cannot behave differently because I have money now. Even my Filipino maid friends here still treat me the same."

Nearly 200,000 foreign maids, mostly from the Philippines and Indonesia, work in affluent Singapore, which has a population of five million.

Whats the boon and bane in Nursing?

Best Blogger Tips is dynamic profession, it is a noble too. It easily adapts to that changes brought about the society. There are a lot of factors that contribute to the changes in the society, such as in science and technology.

Science and technology transformed health care both in the medical and nursing worlds. It drench the accurate diagnosis of patient's diseases leading to proper treatment and, eventually , convalescence. The quality care is rendered to its maximum level through research based practice that generates patient satisfaction and limits the occurrence of malpractice. Changes also brought about certain difficulties in the field of nursing. There are advances that improved nursing care standards and there are blues that afflict the profession- the boon and bane of nursing.

The boon
Filipinos nurses are ready to cope the demands of global community, because of new and better curriculum was developed alongside with new programs. These measures were supposed to produce a nurse well equipped with knowledge and skills required to work. There is the adoption of a more comprehensive and responsive BS nursing curriculum.

In the hospital, staff nurses chart the care rendered to the patients in old in decrepit- looking. Now in the age of technology and advanced computers, nursing is adapted through the most recent trend in documenting patient care, or it is already called nursing informatics.

Nursing informatics is a new advancement, a growing trend abroad. No more staff make do with deformed metal charts and dog-eared news print when they document patient care. Modern computers will replace these old stuff. There will be ease and accuracy which are important since the patient's chart is a legal document that can be used to make or un-make a nurse in court litigation's when sued.

Virtual Laboratories is now implemented here. This is the program that will provide simulations of actual nursing situations commonly encountered in the hospitals. Dummies are used in the performance of ideal procedures and this is good since student nurse can make as many mistakes as he/she can without doing any damage. Our nursing student when they are fully nurse which they have intense training are ready to work in global community. They have opportunity waiting abroad.

The bane
So much for the bright side of nursing. There are still problems yet never been answered. The problem of nursing shortage and the oversupply of nurses throws the economy off balance, aggravating the unemployment and underemployment woes plus the looming brain drain phenomenon that devastated the profession. Many nurses are produced each year whereas the employment opportunities are very limited. Thats why many nurses try their luck in call center industry.

This is so sad. They spent more than half a million for their education, not counting the emotional and physical cost of nursing.
Many had chosen nursing as a profession and not as a calling. Who would work here if you will earn less than what is specified by the nursing act. Nurses now only got a salary of 10-12 thousand pesos monthly depending in what field you are. This is not a fair salary, nurses overworked and underpaid, they are just humans with bodies subject to wear and tear. exodus of nurses has a great impact on our health care delivery system that either fail to realize or sometimes you wanted just to be blind.
We cant blame them, since they are just human they are also subject to the rudiments of human nature. Another problem nurses facing is the under staffing. You will be assigned in some fields with 50 beds, Geez! your not a robot to handle all this.. Because nurses are already abroad, to find the greener pasteur.

Hope, we can start somewhere if we want this country to hold the best nurses instead of watching skill and expertise slip through our fingers!

Best Blogger Tips
Beautiful Lake Scene
You’re alive. That we have  a reason to rejoice each moment of our life. You may have your rough days and your sad days, but as long as you are breathing you can access awe. When you get out of bed in the morning and put your feet on the floor, give thanks that you are part of a great adventure, an ever-expanding journey. Just think positive and wear your beautiful smile that can make your day a perfect day!! Always give 5 minutes pray, to thank God of what He done to us.
Each moment is a gift. Savor it. Even in the tough times, take a moment to breathe, ground yourself and become present in the moment. Life will be much richer—livelier--if you can direct your attention to what really matters to you, whether that’s a person, a place, or an activity.

Food storage

Best Blogger Tips
Store raw ingredients and cooked food properly to prevent contamination.

Cupboards or cabinets under sinks or with pipes passing through them are not good storage places; rodents and insects have easy access to these places.  Seal doors of cupboards to keep out insects.

Store dry goods in airtight containers and refrigerate or seal ( wing cling wrap or foil) any perishable foods.

Transfer partially used canned foods to a plastic or ceramic container; rust formation may contaminate the food.

Separate frozen foods into single use packages, in this way, you avoid taking out or thawing large portions just to use a small amount.

Left over foods are very common source of food borne illness because they ofthen require storage and re heating.

Avoid serving left overs to children to minimize the risk of illness.

Keep all leftovers in sealed containers.

Don't leave leftovers in the fridge for more than 2-3 days; they are likely to have higher bacterial content than fresh food.

Cool cooked food quickly and refrigerate immediately.

Never leave cooked food at room temperature overnight.

A letter from a friend.

Best Blogger Tips
I would like to share with you a letter from a friend. This is the most beautiful advice I have ever received in an email ...

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future.
If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain.  Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself.  Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns.
If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety.  If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13.. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut).
This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a spiritually enlightening book with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20.. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life..
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems?
Talk to God on the spot.  Try to nip small problems in the bud.  Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.

25.. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus .'
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31.. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
. Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.  GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

'If God is for us, who can be against us?'
(Romans  8:31)
