Whole grains are touted to be one of the key  weapons against heart diseases, most form of cancer and a host for other ailments. Notice that the bread, cereal, rice, and  pasta groups gets the highest recommended number of servings. Well, it serves us the foundation of the food pyramid- and it should be the same in your diet.  But instead of eating refined grains, most of us are won't to do, go for whole grains.

Eating whole grain foods everyday helps to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and intestinal disorders. There's lot variety of whole grains out there, the moment you go to grocery store you can find them. Include you grain does not necessarily mean having to eat rice and corn everyday.  As i read in some article that scientist still have hard pressed to explained how exactly  whole grains provide protection against cancer, but they just conclude that frequent  whole grain consumption implies lower intake of refined  grains. Whole grains allow the body to eliminate cancerous waste more quickly. My friend diet is whole grains, doctor recommended to her. She is a breast cancer survival now.

Dealing with the picky eater

A calm, reassuring manner is important in introducing new food to your child.  Remember, youngster thrive  on routine and are often resistant to change.  Never force a feeding.  Be content.  If your picky eater just goes for a taste on the first try.  maybe next time he will be adventurous enough to chew and swallow it.  If a child get used of eating  a certain food, then he will learn to like it usually, a little at a time.  Kids may have an unhealthy view of food when they grow older if parents make an issue out of finishing every meal.

Maximize every bite.  For example, substitute, white bread with whole wheat, junk food with fresh fruits.  Skip ice cream, cake, and other sweets especially near regular meal times, as these will only spoil their appetite.  And high amount of sugar don't really help in the development of your child.  It will just make him hyper.

Crispiness and color attract kids to food, and the more natural they are, the better.  Some veggies like carrots and celery can be eaten raw. Just chop it in cube so it won't run to the risk of choking.

Remember, that kids take their cue from their parents.  If you refuse to eat veggies, you can't expect them to eat theirs.  Be assured though that if you have good eating habits and eat often with your child, they, too, will acquire a taste for healthy foods..

When stroke strikes

Someone suffering from stroke may resemble a drunk person .  In severe cases, he may fall into unconsciousness.  If you suspect someone is having a stroke, get a medical help immediately.  While waiting for the help, and if the victim is conscious, lay the person down with the head and shoulders slightly raised ( use pillows or cushions) Lay the victim on the weak side so that the saliva can drain from the mouth.  Loosen clothing at the neck, chest, and waist.  If necessary, restore breathing by mouth to mouth resuscitation.  Assure the victim that help is on the way.  Do not offer anything to eat or drink.

If the victim becomes unconscious, put him in recovery position to prevent anything ( blood, saliva or tongue) from blocking the windpipe and choking the victim.  Careful roll the victim  to his stomach, the arm and leg on one side straight beside his body, the other arm and leg bent to prop up the upper and lower body.  Tilt the victim's chin back to straighten the throat.

Do you like Iced Tea? It satisfied my thirst with lots of ice on it. Do you know that there are many uses of ice? This will ease the pain of those who are experiencing pain in different parts of the body. The best way to cool down an acute flare up is with ice. it will help reduce swelling and strain on your back muscles. You can put an ice pack on the pain site and massage the spot for seven to eight minutes. Do this for two to three days.

Use an ice pack to treat any injury that might lead to a bruise. The ice pack must be applied as quickly as possible following the injury and treatment continued for twenty four hours, if you suspect that the bump will likely to progress into a severe bruise. Apply it for fifteen minutes interval.  Don't apply heat between ice packs, instead let the skin warm it naturally.  Cooling constricts  the blood vessels, and that means less blood spills into the tissues to cause that big black splotch.  Cold pack can minimize the redness and swelling of the affected area. This won't hurt much  as the bruise left unchilled. After 24 hours, it is time to apply heat, on the area to dilate the blood vessels and improve the circulation.

One way to refresh tired feet is to wrap a few ice cubes in a cloth, then rub it the entire feet and ankles for a few minutes. Ice acts to relieve any inflammation and it serves as a mild anesthetic. Then dry your feet and apply some alcohol, cologne or vinegar (foul odor) for cooling and drying effect.

The only time to prepare for an emergency is before it happens. Thinking is very crucial  as doing when crisis rises. First assess the situation quickly then thats the time you will act immediately.  This is just a overview of major rules to bear in mind.
First you don't have to panic- In any crisis, staying calm is the most important rule of all.  Panic can turn a problem into a tragedy, it will destroy's judgement and it will paralyzed your muscle, thus you can't move or you don't know what to do.  Just always remember to stay in calm, and you can do more than any other single factor  to save a life.

Improvise- No emergency is quite like another.  In any situation, If you do not have exactly what you need, just prepared to make do with whatever is at hand. Look around for possible substitutes. Maybe you should carry any medical kit in your bag for emergency used, this will really help.  Keep looking until you can find one, in some emergency situation that you don't hand in hand.

Sometimes in a crisis there is no absolutely safe way out. There may be no choice but to take one risk in order to avoid a greater one. To do so effectively requires clear understanding and a cool head.
