Whole grains are touted to be one of the key  weapons against heart diseases, most form of cancer and a host for other ailments. Notice that the bread, cereal, rice, and  pasta groups gets the highest recommended number of servings. Well, it serves us the foundation of the food pyramid- and it should be the same in your diet.  But instead of eating refined grains, most of us are won't to do, go for whole grains.

Eating whole grain foods everyday helps to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and intestinal disorders. There's lot variety of whole grains out there, the moment you go to grocery store you can find them. Include you grain does not necessarily mean having to eat rice and corn everyday.  As i read in some article that scientist still have hard pressed to explained how exactly  whole grains provide protection against cancer, but they just conclude that frequent  whole grain consumption implies lower intake of refined  grains. Whole grains allow the body to eliminate cancerous waste more quickly. My friend diet is whole grains, doctor recommended to her. She is a breast cancer survival now.

I do prefer whole grains to refined. Too bad we don't really have a lot of options here to get them.

At our home, we eat a lot of oatmeal and whole grain bread. When you get used to it, it tastes better than the refined stuff.
