For some people, it's hard enough to eat properly when they are healthy. When they grow ill, they lost the desire or ability to eat anything at all. We probably all known people who prematurely wasted away from cancer or some illness, or even old age simply because it is very difficult to eat.. There are many symptoms they have, such as sore of the mouth, difficulty to swallow foods, dulled taste sensation, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. This is also occur in some simple ailments like flu or sore throat.
having an adequate nutrition during prolonged illness will obviously improve your chances of recovery and help fight infection. The recommendations for anyone who are suffering from some illness and wanted to improve their nutrition may take this:
For mouth sore:
- Eat foods at room temperature rather than when they are very hot or very cold.
- choose foods and drinks that are mild and non-irritating, such as apple juice instead of orange juice or other acidic juices.
- Limit your spices
- try to eat soft foods
For difficulty of swallowing:
- Try soft foods like cereal or oatmeal
- Avoid sticky foods that can be hard to swallow.
- try drinking with a straw
If you have diarrhea
- drink plenty of liquids
- stay away from caffeinated beverages, which acts as diuretics
- eat salty foods as they promote water retention
- stay away from milk that contain lactose
- eat bananas, mangoes and diluted orange and nectar juices to replace minerals you may have lost
- avoid foods that are high in fiber
- if diarrhea persist, consult the doctor

Thanks for sharing the tips. Just last week, most of my kids were sick and the difficult part was getting them to eat something. Sometimes I just let them eat a fruit or drink fruit juices just so that they would have some nourishment to strengthen their sick body. And when they are better, that's when I start again to feed them more nutritious foods.
